Impressive
First time ever owning a car not made by the big 3. I'm very impressed. Quality, Ride, Dealership, value and Mileage all surpass any American Car I have owned in many years. Never thought I would own a car from a Non American Car Company, but I'm glad I own this car.

Great vehicle!!
I traded in a Nissan Maxima for the 2007 Avalon. I will have to say that the Avalon is the best vehicle I ever purchased.

Great road car
What I like: 1) Transmission - the +/- manual/automatic is a great design. There's always the right gear for every situation, passing, mountain roads, open highway, etc. 2) Handling: great on the open road, a luxury ride, plus it handles great on curvy mountain roads - good control and cornering. Better ride than my 01 Avalon, which is still pretty good. 3) Interior: spacious and comfortable. Great rear seats. 4) Excellent milage for a car this size, 25 to 31mpg depending. 5) Power driver seat is very well designed. What I did not like: 1) No key entry on trunk lid. What if you have a dead battery? Is there a way to open the trunk to get your jumper cables, etc.? I don't understand the design idea behind eliminating the trunk key lock. Somebody please enlighten me on this. Can a key lock be retrofitted? I'd pay for it if I had to. 2) the odometers are in an odd place and too small. 3) the 'surround sound' feature is hard to find, requiring about 6 pushes of the right radio button. The surround sound is great on CD or FM, but it makes AM sound like it's coming from a rain barrel. 4) If you're a smoker, there's no ashtray or cigarette lighter. An intentional ommision, I'm told by my dealer. No problem for me. 5) After the first 2600 miles the oil was dirty. Can't wait until 5000 to change it. My 01 Avalon never has dirty oil, even after 124K miles. Am in communication with dealer on this oil situation. 6) Why did they eliminate the two function visors, like the ones on the 01 Avalon? Kind of miss the ability to screen both front and side windows at the same time. In summary, no car is perfect, but this one is right up there with the best on the road. The trunk key lock ommission remains the biggest puzzle for me, however.

Whats not to Like?
I read all the reviews and wonder what the folks in Calif were driving! This is an absolute wonderful car. Ours is an 05 bought new. Two years of driving back and forth to work and a hair over 100k miles and all we've had to do is front brakes and two sets of tires besides the normal oil changes. Averages 28-29.5 mpg and is extremely comfortable on our daily 3 hour rt commute. The Limited with the "cooling" seats is great. The optional systems for controling the car in bad weather is great also, especially commuting in the winter thru Maine. Excellent comfort, mpg and Toyota reliability. I plan to keep it till 250k miles!

Fine car for the money
If you want a Lexus, just scrape off the Toyota emblem on the trunk/hood and put an L on the Avalon. I just bought 2 Avalon Limiteds, one for me and one for my wife. I sold my Lincoln Town car and Toyota Sequoya Limited for these. Looks good, drives very well and is very comfortable. I feel more in control than my Lincoln. It certainly is faster. I rent cars about once a week all over the country and usually am given a premium car based on my seniority. I am always glad to get back home to my Avalon. Honestly, to get a marginally better car, you will have to pay 20-30K more, and then you are mostly paying for the brand. I can afford more expensive cars, but with the savings I got by buying the Avalons, I bought my daughter a car as well (Prius, I am not willing to put out that much for 3 Avalons). If you have the money, you would be foolish not to buy an Avalon. If you have enough to buy a top of the line Lexus, forget it and buy 2 Avalons. In respect of the next few reviews, my paint is just fine, the sound system is as good as my Lincoln and the interior is just fine, thank you.

Toyota should be embarassed
Based on my loving my 2000 Avalon I didn't research the 07. The transmission, DBW, Nav and fit and finish are either unaccepatable or a joke in any order. I was really surprised to find the windows weren't open it was just wind noise. My dealer's top mechanic said "it's just the car". To bad, they had such a good base to build on.

"Biggest Disapointment Ever"
Transmission and DBW problems, poor gas mileage and wind noise, plus a joke for a NAV system and stero make this car a mistake to buy. Had a 2000 Av and loved it.

"Best Car I've Owned"
I previously owned a Toyota Camry XLE V6. I never thought there would be such a big difference between them. I bought an Avalon XLE last January. This car interior is more spacious, has plenty of standard features you would never expect at this price like heated front seats, excellent sound system (JBL), and plenty of extra features. The car handles well, has an engine with power to spare and great acceleration. Ride is smooth and interior passengers hardly notice any bumps or road noise. It really feels like a luxury car and at a price that is hard to beat in today's market.

An affortable, fuel eficient luxury sedan!
Toyota did a good job on the Avalon. What I like about it is that it's very fuel eficient; more than any other luxury sedan. Another thing I like about this vehicle is its rear seats. It's like sitting in the back of a limo! I also like the bold, high-tech dashboard. You can't find it on any other luxury sedan. The final thing I like about this vehicle is it's affortable. Uner $35,000! I highly recommend this luxury sedan!

Poor Exterior Paint Quality
Although I rate the Avalon very high (four or five stars) in all aspects and would recommend it to others, I am troubled by the quality of the exterior paint. I have never had a car in which everything that touches the car leaves a chip in the paint. There are chips on the trunk, the roof, and hood. I have owned cars for six and seven years, with very high mileage (200,000+) that never had any chips or at most, perhaps one. I have had this car one year, it has very low mileage, not driven often, and I am most distressed over this issue.
