great car for intermediate cost
The 2010 Prius (Level V) is great, given its price. I'd like to see options like seats with memory, and BLIS (for spotting cars in the blind spot), and the design of the hatchback impedes vision. Those things aside, we've been quite happy with the Prius.

52 MPG
I have driven 2600 miles in one month, average over 52 MPG with the "power" switch on all the time. I wouldn't buy one without the "power" switch (it's a slug with it off), but no problem merging into traffic, going up hills, etc. Car is comfortable (moved from a Lexus IS300), spacious, decent handling, quiet - heads above the Honda Insight. No brake or acceleration issues (I think these are probably bogus). My only issue is the obnoxious beeper when going in reverse - it can't be heard outside, and if I can't figure out I'm going backwards, I shouldn't be driving. Luckily, I will get it switched off at my first service.

Everything must be good if this is the worst....
My Prius has been exceptional. I truly only have one beef with the car (well, maybe 1.5 beefs)... The 2010 Prius V + Nav I have owned since October 2009 is my first Toyota and has proven to be a very comfortable vehicle for me over the last 7300 miles and five months. The Gen2 vehicle had two issues for me -- driver seat height adjustment and steering wheel reach adjustment. Happily enough, both of these were rectified in the Gen3. The infotainment system is remarkable with the JBL audio. However, this is where the "1/2 beef" comes in. Other vehicles will sync phonebooks automatically with the bluetooth in the vehicle, whereas the system in the Prius requires a manual sync request. So, whenever I change information in my phone, I have to manually re-sync. Additionally, the iPod interface is regrettable. A deft, well-timed finger is what is required for navigation through a list. Things should not start playing automatically as I'm paging through my options. The vehicle, through the cold of winter and the additional resistance of dedicated snow tires has averaged just over 40 mpg with a seven-mile commute each way to work -- barely enough to give it the opportunity to shine. Performance has been better than expected. It's no drag racer, but it will scoot. The illumination from the LED headlights is impressive as well as the performance of the "lotus-effect" front windows. However, hindsight is not so rosy, hence my second "beef". That the sensor for the auto-dimming rearview mirror is directly in line with the spoiler transition across the rear window (thus keeping the sensor almost completely in the shade, rendering it ineffective) is inexcusable. An oversight such as this is embarrassing. Fortunately, I was able to "engineer" a solution with two right-angle prisms and some sticky tack. Inelegant, yes. However it has proved to be an effective solution. Enough ranting...even after the honeymoon has ended, I still look forward to driving the vehicle as I walk up to it every morning -- no faint praise, indeed. :)

Among best 3-4 cars owned since 1955
In spite of the brake issues, which I've read upteen articles about yet have experienced no problems, the 2010 Prius is a fine automobile. Stylish in its own way, sumptuous interior, heavy and sure on the road. I bought mine a few days before December 25th without knowledge of the brake problem and would buy it again with what I know now, chiefly because I also have the endorsement of a son, whose owned it a few months longer than I have and shares my opinions. I wish the best for Toyota, since a Camry I owned in the 90s is one of those best 3 -4 cars noted in the Review title.

Prius III 2010
No problems so far and not recalled. It is still a concern, but I have not experienced and difficulties. Consistently between 48-51mpg. Great for the long commute.

Seems great so far.
With a few notable exceptions, this car is great. The biggest, and most annoying shortcoming is the built in navigation system. Beyond a nice screen, it is basically terrible. Although accurate as a GPS, the address and POI database is flawed, missing addresses by up to 1/4 mile and showing the car in front of the wrong or non-existant address. It is DVD based, so it is quite slow in performing various functions, although the plotter is quite fast and accurate. The cost of map updates is excessive - upwards of $200 for a new DVD. The other electrocnics work very well (I have the V with Tech Package) with the exception of bluetooth/cell phone integration which is very touchy and not compatible with a lot of handsets. This function is also part of the GPS system, adding to its poor design. The ride is a bit stiff but well controlled, and the acceleration has a bit to be desired, but it is a hybrid so there are tradoffs for fuel economy. It has a very tight turning radius, making parking a breeze. All in all, with the exception of the GPS, it is a great car.

BMW OWNER BUYS PRIUS
I drive a BMW 5 Series Wagon was looking around for a second car with better mileage. I test drove the 2010 Prius and bought it on the spot. The Prius V has terrific features - leather seats, bluetooth, navigation system, satellite radio, backup camera, in dash CD. I am 6' 4" and it is an extremely comfortable car for me. Bravo Toyota, I am now (partially) green.

First Hybrid
We considered this vehicle for several months before taking the leap. So, far, after less than two months, we are quite pleased. We broke the car in with a 2000 mile road trip, averaging 48 mpg. Around town we have averaged 50-53 mpg. Our concern was relative comfort, as our previous car was a 2003 Avalon, which we loved. This Prius has been comfortable enough -- even on a 500-mile drive. We will probably add a lumbar-pillow. The only negative so far, is a slight rattle in the dashboard area, which we plan to have the dealer address.

Everything I expected BUT 4!
I bought the 2010 Prius II in August of '09'. I live in San Francisco, drove up and down the coast, to the Redwoods up north, Yosemite southeast of here and got the gas mileage on the highway almost to the mile as advertised. HOWEVER this is not at all so in the city. They say city driving would get 51 MPG and let me preface my statement with I never expected 51 but would have been thrilled with 40 MPG and it's not even close. I drove into the service center of my dealer, they ran all the tests imaginable and all they could come up with was, "The tire pressure was low and you'll lose around 10 MPG per pound of pressure down." Really, that's your answer? Now that was at 35 MPG and now I'm down on the next tank of gas to 26 MPG and counting. Lastly, I have been now informed that due to my short city drives the battery doesn't kick in so it's running off of the engine and the motor doesn't kick in enough to make any significant difference. Well, not even close to as advertised since I live and work in the city I bought the car for 3 reasons and in order were 1) MPG 2) Emissions 3) park ability as the spaces in SF reflect post earthquake types of vehicles, very, very short.

The only choice for high milers!!
I have an 80 mile commute daily (40 miles each way). The 2010 Toyota Prius is simply the most fuel efficient and economical choice for someone who loves a car with all the gadgets and gizmos! I love love love the Nav system which was a huge improvement over the previous Nav versions. My iPhone connects all my songs via Bluetooth and the XM Nav traffic is a nice tool:) I purchased the Prius IV with Solar Roof Package and I can't imagine purchasing any of the others because I think a moon roof is pretty much a necessity for ANY vehicle. You can't buy a moon roof separately for any of the other trims due to weight and fuel consumption issues. Although the Prius V has the larger wheels, tires and fog lamps, it's simply not practical over having a moon roof in my opinion unless you're all about appearance (which fades). Make no mistake, the Prius is a great car for someone who likes to pay very little for gasoline and gets the enjoyment of driving probably one of the coolest cars of the moment!
