Had the check engine light on my 2017 Hyundai Veloster...
Had the check engine light on my 2017 Hyundai Veloster that I had purchased at Autonation Infinity Tustin one year ago. I had also purchased a Service Agreement for the car at the time of purchase. I thought that I should bring the car back to the dealership where I had purchased the car and the Service Agreement. That was wrong! Instead, I should have called the 800 number on the Service Agreement and they would have advised me to take the car to a Hyundai dealership because it was still under warranty. I didn't get that advice from the Service Advisor at Autonation Infinity Tustin. Instead I was told that the error code from the check engine light indicated that the gas cap needed to be replaced and that wasn't covered by the Service Agreement. I was asked if I wanted to move forward with jthe replacement of the gas cap. I said yes. It cost me $226 but the gas cap replacement didn't fix the evap leak. I believe the Service Advisor should have advised me to contact Hyundai which would have saved me $226.
