WORST CAR-BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER!
WORST CAR-BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER! On 12/8/2023 I was poised to buy a used car from Matthews Planet Pre-owned in Vestal. Andy Husch was my salesman and I paid cash in full for a 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid. He carefully put the piles of cash in front of him on his desk and I counted along with him that the full amount was correct. He then scooped up the cash to take to a back office. Moments later he returned to inform me that $1,000 was mysteriously missing. He and I frantically searched around his immediate office area but did not locate the money. Andy then left again. A short while later Sales Manager Jack Richardson approached me and asked if I knew where the missing $1,000 was. I told him "no". Jack then stated to me, "Unfortunately, we cannot release the car to you today because $1,000 is missing." I replied with, "It's not my fault." to which Jack said, "Yes it is." I immediately rose up out of my chair and emptied out my pockets to prove to him that I didn't have the cash on me. I then requested that we get the police involved because I did not appreciate being accused. I then asked if there were any video surveillance cameras that could be checked. Jack said that they were reviewing them now. After waiting a lengthy period of time, the General Manager Jim Morris or Morse approached me and informed me that they were going to release the car to me. I asked Jim if they reviewed the surveillance video to which he replied "Yes." I respectfully requested if I could view the video to which he obliged. After I viewed the video I understood why Jim agreed to release the car because there was NOTHING to implicate me. Video clearly showed me sitting stationary at Andy Husch's desk and I would have had to lean over his desk to reach for the cash but I NEVER made a motion nor would I. I was there to buy a car, not to rob $1,000! Even though Matthews never accused me of stealing my own money, Jack Richardson's comment "Yes it is." certainly insinuated me and I did not appreciate it. Jim Morris or Morse did tell me that this was a rare occurrence but I was clearly innocent and if I could leave a NEGATIVE STAR review, I would. As of the time that I write this review, I have not even gotten an apology. Nor has the police contacted me with any follow-up. Makes me wonder if Matthews ever got the police or any legal authorities involved after I formally asked. I also never got a 'thank-you' for even buying the car. The ending of this ordeal was horrible and I hope no one else has to ever go through this to buy a car. My family has been doing business with Matthews for many years and I won't ever buy a car from them again. Matthews should be ashamed especially Jack Richardson! Mark Kotasek

Sales person Mike Goff was VERY patient- nice selection of cars- considering the the current car price climate I felt prices were definitely fair to good -the only negative is quite a few cars that I had interest in were in their far away dealerships- Another positive was the more local vehicles I wanted to see they brought to where I was. Easiest paperwork on a car I’ve ever had. Good experience!

My service advisor, Stephen Korutz, who helped me with my car service was excellent. He was communicative, knowledgeable of the issue, gave me good advice and was overall very helpful. A pleasure to speak with. Chris, the service manager also followed up with me regarding an issue and he was excellent in explaining what was going on and the remedy to the situation.

Adam and the dealership went above and beyond for our VW
Adam and the dealership went above and beyond for our VW purchase! Due to the dealership not having an in transit tag (PA), to make it right, they came to my house to have me sign and then took the paperwork to the tag and title to get everything so that I could pick up my car that day! Adam even came in on his day off to deliver my car. The staff was very accommodating and polite. I will definitely go back for my next vehicle due to exceptional service given.

Never had an issue with any Matthews previously, but I would not bring my car here again. Their carelessness cost me needing to replace two fairly new tires over two trips, several hours of aggravation, and $450.
