Vehicle Overview

What it is: The Audi SQ5 is the performance model in the Q5 lineup. It features a more powerful version of the Q5’s available supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 gas engine that’s rated at 354 horsepower. All-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are standard.

For 2017, the Prestige model comes with adaptive steering, and a Black Optic Plus Package is a new appearance option.
What’s Special

  • Zero to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, according to Audi
  • Gray accents for the grille
  • Aluminum side mirror housings; body color available
  • Quad exhaust tips
  • Lowered suspension
  • 20-inch wheels; 21-inch wheels available
  • Leather and Alcantara sport seats

Here’s info on the regular Q5:

What it is: The Audi Q5 competes in the crowded compact luxury crossover segment that includes the Acura RDX, BMW X3 and Volvo XC60. It seats up to five and comes with standard all-wheel drive. For 2017, power comes from a gas four-cylinder or V-6 engine; Audi has stopped offering a turbo-diesel V-6 while it works on resolving an emissions-cheating scandal and the gas-electric hybrid has been shelved until the Q5 is redesigned. A performance-oriented SQ5 model remains in the lineup.
New for 2017
The uplevel 3.0T Prestige model gets a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles, Audi drive select and adaptive cruise control. The 2.0T Premium Plus model gets new 19-inch wheels and all-season tires.

  • Top of the line sport SUV

The SQ5 comes standard with around 350 hp and with only some minor modifications can get up to 450 hp. Combine that with Audis consistently having the most comfortable yet driver centric cockpits and this is the most balanced and pleasurable vehicle I’ve owned in over 20 years. For record, I’m comparing this against previously purchased Audi S4s and a V8 BMW M3. The SQ5 is a sedate mom car when you want it to be and a competitor to the Porsche Camen when you put it into sport mode. Fully fun and functional.

For the price The Audi SQ5 Sport utility vehicle better than Porsche Macan TURBO. Better comfort soft diamond leather seat handle sharp around corners and the cabin is very quiet.

  • Everything anyone could/would want in mid-size SUV

Next to our 2917 Audi A 4 which was my dream car, this SQ 5 is everything my wife wanted in an SUV and more. My wife owns a Children's book store in Redlands, California. She wanted a vehicle that was maneuverable with plenty of power and room to haul books & materials when needed. The first time she fired up the SQ 5, she had a grin from ear to ear and LOL. The vehicle was love at first site. 2017 SQ 5 Prestige with everything & the kitchen sink at a price no one could come close to matching.

  • An Audi that is classic!

I have recently completed the purchase of a 2017 SQ5, Premium Plus package. It is the most powerful, quiet, best handling, great looking and extremely comfortable SUV available from any manufacturer. The ride is firm, not harsh; responsive, not floaty; has great acceleration with no lag. Overall, a well built vehicle that is made to be driven!

  • If you have the means...

...I highly recommend picking one up. I read a review before I test drove the SQ5, which basically said, "This is a wonderful vehicle, but who needs a car that can to 0-60 in 5.0s with a canoe on the roof?" Ok, I'm paraphrasing, but the short answer is, "Me." I love the smooth ride, power, comfort, and space. This is not the vehicle for the family of four, but for me, a 40-something, married-without-children guy, this car is perfect. Sure, as a luxury vehicle, it's a little pretentious, but pretension isn't all bad. In short, this is a wonderful purchase, even if few other folks would ever have the need for it.
