All I Can Say Is....... Wow!!!
I just recently purchased a used 2011 Ford F-150 Platinum with a 6.5 foot bed and Ecoboost engine. It is also one of those trucks that has all the gadgets and gizmo's you can think of and I absolutely love it. While this is the most modern and expensive vehicle I've ever owned, it is worth every penny. The F-150 Platinum edition is even more interesting because I would compare it to a luxury vehicle. Premium heated/cooled leather seats that are extremely comfortable, heated rear leather seats, a really good navigation system (optional), moonroof (also optional), Sony 700w 10-speaker sound system (optional), Sirius XM satellite radio, automatic running boards, heated mirrors, auto rain sensing wipers, remote start, rear camera, rear parking assist, etc. I can go on and on about all of the options this truck comes with but when all is said and done, it's still a very comfortable & reliable truck. It's extremely quiet and accelerates quickly. The turning radius and trying to find a suitable parking spot isn't something I'd brag about, but it's a slight inconvenience with having a truck as big as it is. Nevertheless, it has max towing and a tailgate step which is very useful even for a young guy like myself. All in all, I'm really enjoying my truck and look forward to owning it for sometime.

Devil is the detail
End of year discounts made this truck what it should cost. Had a 93 regular cab toyota truck (before they came up with tacoma label) that finally died. Debated a lot of vehicles to fill the gap and was torn between a smaller suv and a mid size pickup. Liked the F-150, but due to size was a bit shy of it and thought the price initially shopping was way out of my league. When they had serious rebates and incentives at end of year I was about to pull the trigger on a double cab tacoma 4 cyl, but the price of the F-150 super cab was the same, so it was a no brainer. I still don't understand why toyota's gas mileage isn't all that great compared to a truck the size of the F-150 either. I think Ford has done a lot to increase their efficiency and really like the power of the V-6 when needed, but if you are kind to it you can get pretty good gas mileage given the size. Anyway onto the F-150... Got the crew cab XLT, with chrome package since I liked the grill and the price was in my range. I wish I would have examined the wheels a bit closer to notice the "chrome" wheels really are just caps on top of the wheel, which seems cheap to me. I know that seems minor, but given the price increase for this chrome package it seems cheesy. Pretty happy with the cloth interior and features. The layout is real nice and the seats are very comfortable. The truck drives really nice and doesn't feel as big as I thought it would after driving the smaller standard cab toyota for over a decade. Normal prices this truck is high. I came really close to buying the Kia Sportage, but the lack of a bed and questionable towing ability steered me away. With upcoming fuel predictions though the great gas mileage on that vehicle might be a regret for me.

Went from Ranger to F-150. Glad I did.
On 1/28/12, I traded in my 2007 Ranger for a 2011 F-150 STX 2WD ext. cab. One of the reasons I decided to upgrade to the F-150 were the favorable reviews of the redesigned F-150. Initially, I had my doubts about a 3.7 V-6 being able to move a 5000 lb. truck around, but between the 3.73 axle ratio, a 6 speed transmission and 278 lb-ft of torque, I found that in most situations, the 3.7 does a good job. The only time the 3.7 seems lacking is under hard acceleration. But even then, the 3.7 pulls hard in the upper rpm range (unlike the old 4.2 V-6). Another reason I decided to upgrade to the F-150 was the added interior room and in this respect, the F-150 does not disappoint. With the 4 dr. extended cab, I now have enough room for adult-sized passengers in the rear seat or enough room to carry tool boxes in the cab (instead of in the bed). The only criticism I have of the F-150 is the tilt steering - I wish it would tilt up a little higher. When I slide into the seat, my legs are close to the rim of the steering wheel. However once I'm in place everything is fine. The ride and handling of the F150 are also much better than the Ranger. On washboard roads, the F-150 soaks up the bumps whereas the Ranger rode harder. In normal driving situations, the F-150 feels heavier and more solid with a much quieter cabin noise level. On the flipside, the Ranger was more nimble and easier to park. All in all, I'm impressed by the 2011 F-150 and I'm glad I decided to upgrade.

Elvis
I bought this F150, with the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine, new with 553 miles indicated. Loved the truck, great looks, great ride, great comfort, BUT!!! gas mileage was very poor; response to acceleration, sluggish; transmission shift when accel. sluggish; acceleration when passing, hesitant and sluggish; down shifting when accelerating to pass, hesitant and sluggish

Should'a got a V-8
Bought a f-150 xlt 2-wd ext.cab.Really love this truck I opted for the 3.7 for better fuel mileage and it gets just a tad better than my wifes 2010 explorer 4x4 4.6 3v.or my old 2004 f-150 v-8 on the highway, which is most of my driving,I miss the smooth v-8 power, this thing sounds like a sewing machine when you put your foot in it. But I guess I'll get used to it, wish I would have spent the extra grand for the 5.0,other than that this is one tough truck. Also wish the steering wheel tilted a little higher.

Best Pickup I ever owned or driven.
Bought this pickup with the EcoBoost engine this last fall and I Love this pickup. We live in Iowa and drive north to northern Mn with an average 20 to 21 mpg. Now that is fantastic for a 4 wheel drive pickup. Comfort, quality, and performance is excellent. I strongly recommend the F150 for I've owned both GMC's and Chrysler products. Ford has finally got their act together.

Platinum is still worth more than Gold
First Impression When you open the door and the running board deploys as smooth as silk, you sense there is going to be something special to this truck. The large opening the door creates invites you into a leather and simulated wood trimmed interior. Once you climb aboard, you are surrounded by controls and technology that is 21st century top notch. The steering wheel adjust up, down, in, and out. The foot pedals and seats adjust to you and the way you want it. When you shut the door, the outside world is isolated from the cockpit. A turn of the key and the 5.0 growls to life. The 7" Display for the navigation and entertainment system greets you with a Big Blue Oval and the center command center greets you with the Super Bowl commercial like "Built Ford Tough" You know you have purchased the right truck. I cannot say enough about this truck. I have just described what it felt like when I first met her for the test drive. I have been a Ford nut since I was born. The last F150 I owned was a 2007 Rousch Stage 3. Awesome truck for performance but the overall experience was bland. It was traded in for a German brand luxury for my wife. This truck replaced that vehicle and I must say with a smile on my face, that this truck is more exciting, has a higher level of tech and comfort, and has far superior power train. And the German was a sport model loaded with everything. You may be shaking your head right now thinking I have lost it, but this truck is this awesome. The engine is super awesome in this truck. The Coyote 5.0 is a reconfigured Mustang 5.0 engine and when you mash the gas, it let's you know it. The deep growl and the fast revs are simply music. Power is strong and constant all the way to the 7 grand shift point. Matched to the 6 speed auto tranny with 3.73 gears, it is butter. In normal street driving conditions, the shifts are undetectable. You can select the highest gear you want the transmission in, you can manually shift it like a manual, and all of this is done with the buttons on the leather wrapped shifter nob. The center display between the Tac and Speedometer, displays your choices and modes. Similar to luxury cars, you can pull system checks, oil life remaining, angle and inclination while hill climbing, trip and mileage computers, trailer brake controls, transmission temp, and set ups for the "My Key" system. The Sony Radio with "Sub Woofer", yes kids, I said sub woofer, sounds awesome with great bass and highs. If you do not want to hear the outside world at 80 MPH then you do not have to. Blue tooth or hard wire your Iphone or Android and jam out. You have HD FM radio, FM, AM, Sirius, a 10gb built in hard drive, MP3, USB, and DVD options to pick your entertainment. (It plays movies in PARK" Yea this is still a 4x4 truck. The voice activated controls are helpful, you can check the weather, sports, news, find a place to wash your truck, and anything else you can imagine. My iPhone is hand free and the truck uses it to call 911 in a crash or airbag deployment. That is the one down fall with the system. You have to have your phone connected or it will not be able to call out. BMW "SOS" ha a stand alone cell for this purpose. Ford could look into fixing this. Climate controls are great. If you do not want to mess with the buttons, just tell it what temp you want. Heat and AC seats in the front and heated rears are wonderful. Sunroof is big and the power back window lets the wind in. You will not be disappointed with this truck. We love it and we have yet found anything negative about the truck. Mileage is 15.9 to 16.5 combined with 19 to 20 at 65-70 mph. If you are considering luxury combined with a solid work horse, then this truck is for you. Ours is Golden Bronze with dark brown leather, beautiful combination.

2011 F-150 has a great engine
I owned a 2010 F-150 before they changed over to the new engines that Ford came out with. With was a great truck but had a great opertunity to upgrade to the 2011 F-150. I love the new V6 Ecoboost engine that performce better than the V8 5.4 litter I had in my old truck. The exterior has not changed but the paint is easy to scrach so be careful with the paint. The interior has changed. I like the new computerized information center. The middle head console and the back middle seat now have a head rest with is nice for long trips. The middle console is a bit bulkey. Overall you get a great truck for the money.
