2011 F-150 5.0L V8 FX4 Supercab Review.
I recently purchased a 2011 F-150 Supercab 5.0L FX4. Wooowwweee! What a truck! I'll lay down several reviews covering each aspect of the truck starting with Exterior appearance. (Exterior) This truck has quite an intimidating stance. Standing almost 7 feet tall from the ground to the roof, its one of the few factory vehicles that overshadows me and I stand a tall a 6 feet 2 inches. Perhaps in some cases it?s a tad to tall?My 65 year old grandmother who stands about 5,2 inches struggles profusely climbing into the cab?fortunately for her she very rarely ever has to ride in my truck The Blue Flame metallic paint job is done very nicely overall. The exterior is almost identical to a 2009 or 2010 F-150 with only a few subtle changes to my 2011. (Interior) Since 2004 Ford has had class leading interiors...And for 2011 they did a refresh on the F-150 Interior. This truck is no exception. The interior is crafted in a very fine quality considering this is a mass produced vehicle and not some handcrafted supercar. The interior is black on silver and it works very well together...Its visually very pleasing to the eyes all the while being functional and high quality, who could ask for more out of an interior right? The leather wrapped steering wheel has an array of buttons that can be used to control either the radio or the in dash information center located right in the middle of the instrument cluster. The in dash info center is VERY useful. I use it on a daily basis to monitor my fuel economy and this type of monitoring has lead me to increase my fuel economy by 3mpg simply by realizing what I'm doing wrong while driving. Its also go an incline monitor which tells what degree of incline the truck is sitting on and many other features which I won?t go into to detail here. (Performance) This includes engine and transmission...I will start with the engine. My truck is equipped with the new for 2011 5.0L V8. Power is...outright amazing. Most vehicles I?ve driven in my 23 years have ''dead zones'' a point at which they don't really produce power and tend to lose acceleration. Not this 5.0L...Its downright punchy in the low RPMS...Reminds me of old school big block V8's. Yet it carries power threw its RPM's better than any other factory engine I've ever driven. I don't often drive my truck hard...But I know that it has the power to do anything I'll ever ask of it. This V8 sounds like a beast to deep and rumbling down in the low RPMS and more like a V8 race car in the mid/higher RPMS. I recently had to tow a trailer loaded down with furniture for my sister. Though the trailer ''even loaded down'' was no where near my trucks towing limit I never even knew it was back there...The 5.0L certainly doesn?t mind having a little extra weight hooked up to it. Now for the transmission...What?s a good engine without a good transmission hooked up to it? It?s a lump of metal the makes noise and pushes your vehicle in a very generic manner...Ford's 6-speed automatic cooperates with the 5.0L in a battle room strategic manner. The 6-speed always compliments and takes advantage of the 5.0L's low end torque and/or high end power. Shifts are generally smooth...Smoother than most other trucks I?ve ever driven. Sometimes they can be a little jerk going from 1st to 2nd at low speeds ''I.E. Parking lots''. It never seems confused though...And always has the right gear picked. (Reliability) No issue so to speak...Picked the truck up on June 14th 2011 it?s now September 19 2011 and I've got about 4800 miles on the truck...It just had its first oil change about 100 miles ago. So far everything is stellar. (Off the Road) Haven't done to much off-road with this truck...I did however try the 4WD out by climbing up a steep incline that was riddled with loose gravel and ruts. I found that there was no need for 4WD low or to lock the diff...In 4WD high with an unlocked diff the truck walked right up the hill the minimal wheel spin. (PROS) POWERFUL and relatively economical 5.0L V8, Smooth quick thinking 6-speed automatic, Comfortable quality interior, List of features most would expect on a luxury car, Beautiful paint, Sits up tall and commanding, Relatively smooth ride for a large pickup. (CONS) Sits a little to tall for some, Touchy throttle can make low speed driving a little hard. Fuel economy though good for a truck might disappoint someone coming out of a smaller vehicle.

Other than truck came stock with poor quality 18" P type tires. A really beautifull ride. 5.0 liter V8 has all the power I need.

Excellent Inside and Out
I've been very impressed with the performance and quality of my new F-150. Everything about it is top notch. The new center lcd information screen is really cool and useful. The integrated trailer brake controller is the best I've ever seen. Ford got it right with this vehicle.

F150 XLT Supercrew 6.5 Foot Bed
PROS: This truck has good ergonomics and a powerful engine. The 5.0 V8 is stout in the higher rpm range and really sounds like a brute. The 5.0 gas mileage is excellent compared to the older 5.4 V8s. The ride is quiet and refined. CONS: The truck has an annoying shudder when accelerating from a stop. This shudder is more pronounced when towing with weight in the truck bed. The F150 brand is also pricey compared to trucks on the market.

F 150 Limited 4x4
I guess I speak more to the luxury truck buyers. After much research, debate and anxiety I finally had the opportunity to switch from modern luxury cars to an F 150. My last 3 cars were infinity ranging from the FX to the large QX SUV and even an M35. All great cars, but not my F 150. I was looking for the benefits of a truck, but something close to the look and feel I was familiar with. Could this be done? Absolutely....with an F150 Limited Pkg. After going back and forth with the various packages (Lariat, Platinum, Limited, etc), I decided on the Limited 4x4 and all I can say is wow! There is not a moment that goes by that I dont look forward to driving this truck. Granted it doesnt handle corners like my old M35, but the ride is outstanding, quiet and an absolute pleasure to drive. This truck is a house on wheels. With its spacious and extremely roomy four door design, it makes short and long trips comfortable. My 4 year old cannot wait to get in. As for the features, Ford has done an outstanding job combining world class truck capabilities with serious creature comforts. The fit and finish is amazing and the new technology with Navigation and Sync provides everything you could possibly need....even weather reports. Where else can you find a truck that can tow 11,000lbs, but feels like a luxury car. I am still in the early stages of ownership, but I can say without doubt that anyone who has ever played with the idea of moving from a modern luxury car to an F-150....go for it! You will not be disapointed. Highs - Ride, durability, fit and finsih. technology, comfort, room/space, handling. Even price. My truck was less than any top luxury car and actually turns more heads. Lows - None thus far, but we would all love 30 miles to a gallon

Very surprised!
Tired of the usual foreign crossover, we decided to look at pickup trucks. Their utility was very attractive, but we were worried about the bumpy ride and crude interior. Reviews kept pointing us to the F-150, and we ended up with an FX-4 Supercrew 4x4 with luxury package. We are very impressed! The ride, interior features, and good looks easily rival the imports we have been buying for the last 20 years. Smooth ride, very quiet, lots of power, comfortable seats, tons of creature comforts (folding mirrors, heated seats, bluetooth audio/phone, Sirius radio, leather seats, 110 volt outlet, awesome instrument and dashboard functions (trip computer, mileage tracking, towing feature). The rear cab area has enough room for our two boys and two dogs. We put a Rubbermaid ActinPacker bin in the bed. Great for travel, quiet and smooth on the highway. Easy around town (about 18 mpg to date). We are pleasantly surprised.

Overall very nice, but FX4 shudders a lot
My new FX4 has a great interior. Lots of room, nice amenities, no wind noise, quiet engine. It's great to drive. However, the rear suspension is very susceptile to vibration and shuddering, even over small imperfections in a concrete road. Try this test: go to the back of the FX4, hit the bumper downward pretty hard with your hand and you'll see the vibration and shudder just from that. Now multiply that vibration by 20 times and that's what you feel when driving the FX4. Try it on a Dodge Ram or Tundra.. no shudder or vibration. Still love my FX4, but I need to find a way to decrease the vibration and shudder.

FX4 - nice features. Lots of bed vibration
Have the 2011 FX4 Supercrew with 18-inch wheels. Luxury package is very nice. Great interior features. Rear seats are a bit low, but manageable. Lots of space in tieback seating area. Seats fold up vertically to make the whole rear area a respectable cargo hold. Front bucket seats are comfortable with good support. Ecoboost engine is very quiet and powerful. Getting 17 mpg around town, 21 on the highway. A couple of annoyances: 1) not a lot of interior storage space. Surprisingly sparse on pockets and small bins you might hope to find in such a spacious interior. True both front and rear. 2). The bed vibrates annoyingly with very small bump in the road. I like the stiff suspension, but this is like a quick bounce/vibration that gets annoying since it occurs on even the smallest seams or imperfection in the road. Think of pulling and releasing a tight rubberband. I did not notice the same issue in the XLT when I test drove it.

Great Truck So Far
I purchased a F150 XLT about a month ago. The mileage has been good. I owned a 99 Dodge Dakota I purchased new. It had a V6 like my F150. It never got more than 20 mpg. I've gotten up 24mpg with 3500 miles on the odometer. Build quality is good and the ride is smooth. I looked at the Ram and Tundra but it got down to MPG's
