Vehicle Overview

Though Hyundai likes to compare the Veracruz crossover to luxury models like the Lexus RX 350, shoppers will likely size it against less expensive offerings like the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander. The Veracruz seats seven in three rows and has numerous standard safety features. Base GLS and upper-crust Limited trims are offered, and a 3.8-liter V-6 is standard. All-wheel drive is optional.

New for 2012
The Veracruz gets a new grille and updated 18-inch alloy wheels, which are available. The Limited trim adds heated second-row seats and can be equipped with an Alpine navigation system.

Exterior
Swooping curves and two-tone bodywork define the Veracruz, which emulates styling themes set by Hyundai’s Santa Fe crossover. Exterior features include:

  • Standard 17-inch alloy wheels; available 18-inch alloy rims
  • Chrome window and grille surrounds
  • Standard heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals
  • Standard rear parking sensors
  • Optional moonroof
  • Optional power liftgate

Interior
The Veracruz’s seating arrangement includes front bucket seats, a three-person second-row bench seat and a two-person third row. GLS models have fabric seats, but the uplevel Limited trim gets leather upholstery. Blue backlighting illuminates the instruments, dashboard controls and cupholders. Interior features include:

  • Second row can slide forward to aid access to the third row
  • Third-row seat folds into the floor
  • Air-conditioning controls for rear passengers
  • Optional power tilt/telescoping steering column (manual tilt/telescoping standard)
  • Optional household power outlet

Under the Hood
The Veracruz is powered by a 260-horsepower, 3.8-liter V-6. Mechanical features include:

  • V-6 runs on regular gas
  • Six-speed automatic transmission with manual control
  • Optional all-wheel-drive system includes a lock mode that splits torque 50:50, front to rear, at low speeds

Safety
Standard safety features include:

  • Four-wheel-disc antilock brakes
  • Electronic stability system
  • Side-impact airbags for front seats
  • Side curtain airbags for all three rows
  • Active front head restraints

  • Hyundai's introduction

This car has been a great daily. It ride's like a luxury car- its suspension floats over bumps, and the shifts are smooth. Its seats are comfy, and there is much room, except in the third row. The interior aged nicely, and the car blends in, even in 2023. No unexpected repairs with the car at 126,000 miles. It's been a great car. The power is adequate for its size. She roars when you push the gas, and it's pretty impressive how she moves, especially at higher speeds. Both my wife and I agree it feels faster than her Chevy Equinox. However, we tend to use Equinox more when trying to save on gas. It has many features that still don't come standard today. For instance, our Veracruz has a power-adjustable steering wheel and 7-way power seats on both front seats, while the Equinox doesn't. The only thing I like less is the brakes; they don't stop as fast as you think, so if you get one, allow yourself more time to stop. Just keep up with the oil changes and follow the owner's manual, and the Veracruz will run great. The Veracruz was one of Hyuandi's best offerings to attract people to the new brand. The Veracruz has fantastic features that still don't come standard today. I still find more things I didn't know about the car to this day! Excellent car, sad Hyundai doesn't make it anymore

  • I love my Veracruz!!

In my opinion, this is the best car I have ever owned I am almost 60 years old so I’ve had several vehicles in my life . This is the best car that I have ever driven, that I have traveled in,it us reliable, It has checked off every single box except one; when I got it, it didn’t have remote start; easily rectified. I had it taken into a place that that my local Hyundai dealership recommended…. had it installed and now it’s perfect! It’s a beautiful vehicle and it rides Wonderful…. There’s nothing bad to say about it …. I love love love my Hyundai VeraCruz !!

  • No compensations after car stalled in the hwy

My 2012 Hyundai Veracruz stalled on the hwy in June 2018. And after a year long waiting after sending the complaint against the Hyundai Canada, Hyundai block any negative opinions choosing only positive ones and have no choice but 'Share' only. What a worst company in Canada Feb 2020

  • Nicest car I've owned

I am grateful to again have a car with heated seats and programmable settings for steering wheel and mirrors. I love it! I would like it better if I could synch my cell phone, but we'll figure it out!

  • Drive shafts

Just want everyone to know that if you own a 2012 Hyundai Veracruz and when you put it into D or park and hear clunk. It's the driveshafts and the Dealer has a solution that they don't share. It's washer spacers to be installed on drive shafts and problem goes away. Push dealer and had mine installed for nothing. Saving you $400.00 dollars
