I am original owner of this car. I have owned 3 other Lexuses, ES300, RX350 (2). My wife is the usual driver of the GS. She loves it as do I. It drives nice, responsive and plenty of power. Usual maintenance required and only major was timing belt with water pump and a tune up as recommended by Lexus.

  • Most Reliable Car I've Ever Owned

This car is great. Has lots of room. Is very comfortable. Is VERY reliable. It's quick, not fast, but quick enough. In the 7 years I've had it (I bought it used with 170,000 miles) I've only had to replace the alternator. Great car! It even drives well in the snow. Being RWD, I was a little skeptical about winter. But with snow tires it handles just as well as any AWD car in the snow.

  • A sporty luxury car

The GS300 was a comfortable long distance cruiser that didn't get in your way if you were in a hurry. Don't let Lexus tell you that this was a competitor for a BMW 5 series because it doesn't handle as well nor provide the same amount of driving feedback. However, if you value reliability and a classy car, the GS300 will fit the bill. We drove our GS for close to 200k miles and during that time it never left us stranded or wanting for more performance. If you're traveling from DC to Boston and it is 1am in the morning with the kids sleeping in the back, you'll get satisfaction knowing that they're safe and you've made a good decision. My daughter graduated from car seat to driver's seat in the GS and I felt secure in both cases. However, if it is driving excitement that you are looking for, you'll probably find more excitement in other cars but at an expense. Despite the high initial price of the car, it won't cost you a lot to keep and maintain. Just do the regular maintenance and you'll get a reliable, safe and comfortable car for a long time.

  • I wish i never sold mine

I owned my car for almost 10 years, and I made a huge mistake selling it. Lol. I sold her with 233000 miles and running like gold. Had a friend not been in a bad position, i would've easily taken her for another 233000 miles. However, with it being rear-wheel and living in New England, i did have some trouble. I worked 30 min from home, always got to work and anywhere else, but never once in all those years could i make it up the last hill to my house. I only bought the suv for winters, just so i didnt have to walk up that hill after 14 hour waitressing shifts anymore. More than anything, i wish i never sold it.

  • Bought it in 2001

In 2001 I purchased this car new, it's now 2018 and it still runs great! I always have taken the car to a Lexus dealer. It has low miles 130000 for the age of the vehicle. No rust no dents no chipped paint

  • Best Car Ever

I purchased a 2001 used Lexus GS300 with about 50k miles on it. I purchased it about 7 years ago and I can honestly say it is the best car ever. It is super reliable. I give it the scheduled maintenance and I have not spent a dime on repairs. Gas mileage and ride comfort are great. You cant ask for a better car.

  • Great car very affordable

I purchased the car 2 years ago and the only major problem i've had was a waterpump. The heatsheild also rattles. I love the car mostly because it's so comfortable even with 20" wheels i can hardly tell if I hit a pothole. The suspention is a little high but I always prefer the luxury over the sport. The real wood nice touch. braking is a little hard because the weight. Handles nice but not as good as my 05 acura Tl. As long as you stay up with the scheduled oil changes and fluids this car will probably drive well into the 200k's. I currently have 134k and it drives better than any other car i've testdriven so I guess i'm keeping my lex. 1 last thing this car is a gas guzzler with the price of premium gas it's very hard to plan a road trip.

  • good luxury car

Everything about this car is great except a few items: Handling is not good; if you're driving 40~70 mph and want to miss an object in front of you (a hole/rock) or if the high way has deep turns, it won't be smooth! Other RWD vehicles handle it much better. But the ride is very very smooth and comfortable. HP / MPG ratio is close to V8 engine cars even though i have an I6. Even Avalon's V6 engine has more HP and yet better MPG despite close weight.
