Wouldn't have bought it, but NOW so glad we did!

My husband bought this car for me to drive 50 miles a day to work and home. I was not used to the high seat and low gear shift as the Honda Civic SI we had the shift was loated where the AC instruments are on this Yaris. I did not test drive this car and would not have chosen it at that time, but he was very demanding that he wanted a Toyota. I was not excited about this little silver bullet, but I am loving it now. The style is neat, the power windows/doors were necessary for me. He would have been happy without the power. The center gage cluster is very different, but easy to adjust. We tinted the windows and I have been asked by many co-workers how does it handle. Well, the performance as far as curves reveal this car can hold its own. The lack of power when trying to speed up to traffic was a bit of a challenge for me to get used to, as I am all about driving fast and after 80 mpg, smooth sailing. I do wish the lower price offered more options as standard like: sunroof, cruise control and a multi-disk changer, but I have found that this vehicle is pure Toyota QUALITY!!!!

Nice car but costs with options

I bought a 2007 Yaris S sedan because I liked the way it looked over the new Civic. The thing I hate though is how misleading the beginning price is for this car. With the S model, by the time you have the convenience package with power windows and mirrors (which I didn't even know that was an option anymore) and abs, that car is over $16000. My parents had to talk me into the price of the car (and I'm the one that financed it not them). I love the color (Jade Sea) and had been looking for one and finally found one with the power package. Where I'm from that package as well as having the color is nothing short of a miracle. It's very dependable, gets great gas mileage, and good room on the inside and trunk. I just wish it had a sunroof and a few more options. The bad thing is with that S model you have to be careful how close you park because that car does not clear a parking marker. I haven't hit it as of yet but I always have to be extra careful. Handling as well isn't the greatest. It seems like I have to really turn the steering wheel for it not to feel floaty. Don't get me wrong it's a nice car and I like it, I just think Toyota could have made it a little nicer. Although this is the only car that Toyota has ever lured me into buying by how cute it is. Why can't the new Camry look this cute? I might have bought a Camry then. Overall though nice car for the money- if you like manual everything and no cd player. If not be prepared to pay for what a Honda Civic or entry level Camry would cost.

I love my Yaris!

I owned a Buick Regal before and then I bought the Yaris. It gets such excellent gas mileage and it is so fun to drive. I love it!

Excellent value for the money...

My wife and I purchased the 4-door sedan a week ago as a third car (we have one teenage driver and will have a second teenage driver later this year). Our Yaris has an automatic transmission (easier for the kids); I suspect the manual would be fun to drive. We upgraded with the full convenience package, which includes ABS brakes. So far we have really enjoyed the car; my wife has driven it the most, mainly around town. As a complete transportation package, the Yaris is a surprisingly complete solution. We have a mid-sized SUV and an older mid-size sedan, so the Yaris fits into a good slot for us. Handling is much more solid than one would expect for a small car; the overall comfort level is certainly "Toyota-quality". The center mounted instruments aren't all that much adjustment; all three drivers in my family easily adapted. Anybody looking for an above average car could do much worse than the Yaris. The excellent gas mileage is an added bonus.

Awesome Car

I bought this car about 3 months ago and I love it. Fuel economy is fantastic, emissions are low and it's small enough to get around even the tightest of spaces. And even though it's small I have no trouble feeling comfortable inside (I'm 6' 1"). It's certainly not the most powerful car, but what I need it for more than makes up for it. A great buy if you want a small reliable (it's a Toyota) car.

Notice the poor reviews come from NON owners?

This car is a little weird at first I admit it, but after the TEST DRIVE, it all comes together. The center console was odd at first but after 3k miles, i couldn't put it in a better place. The gas mileage has improved after the run in period to an easy 33/40. The features are right on for the money. The mp3 input is an awesome little addition, the dash is designed well with everything in reach. Visibility from inside the car is unmatched, there are no blind spots. could the engine be more powerful? in theory yes, but there goes price and gas mileage, so the car is right on for the price. The handling is tight thanks to the electronic power steering. The ride is also very smooth, even at 85 mph the ride is quiet. BUY THIS CAR!

Very Happy with my Yaris!

I don't understand why someone would not like this car. It took me a week to get used to the center mounted gauges, but now it is no big deal! The roomy interior is amazing and I find the engine quite peppy! I drive it uphill with the A/C on and have no problem at highway speed. I purchased mine with all the safety features: ABS & side curtain airbags. With all the features it was still less then the Corolla. My Yaris is only a couple of weeks old and I am gatting 34 MPG. GREAT CAR at any price!

Nice little car

I bought this car for my wife. It has the automatic transmission. She gets about 38 city and 43 highway. The week we got this thing we drove it from pittsburgh to atlanta. So far we have not had any problems with the car. It is easy enough to get in and out of, but when you put the seat back for us long legged folks, the steeringwheel is kinda far, and requires a bit of a stretch. Uncomfortable on an 12-13 hour drive. The gauges in the center are a pain, but are still usable. We did get the sedan, and it has plenty of room for four adults. It is no race car, but all in all I am happy with the funny looking little car.

Sweet!

I'm a longtime Corolla driver. The Yaris is absolutely sweet--it handles very well, and is a great car for the money--and in comparison to several cars that cost more. The convenience package gives you the side airbags, CD, 15 inch wheels--and isn't too much of an add on. I kept the price down by NOT adding on a kazillion other things that none of us really use. Great fuel efficiency, good speed and power on hills, smooth shifting. Center panel is actually better. European design actually gives you a safer car--and as I just lost my Corolla to a bad driver who T-boned me, I'm happy to have the safety of the strong cage and the front/side airbags. You can't touch this quality with any other brand--anywhere close to the price. Though a Toyota fan, I compared. I'm very, very happy with my adorable hatchback. Oh, the hatchback looks just "different" enough that people walk up and want to know more.
