CARS.COM — Spring is here, and Mother Nature has been teasing us with warmer weather and sunny days. It’s the kind of thing that’ll put convertibles on the brain, and isn’t it much more fun to think about carefree top-down driving than scraping ice off your windshield? Let’s hope we don’t have to do that again for a while.

There are many kinds of convertibles, but we’ve been thinking of the affordable, fun-to-drive variety. That led us to these two roadsters for sale on Cars.com: a 2000 Honda S2000 and a 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata. Both two-seaters have rear-wheel drive, a manual transmission and a soft-top. What could be better?

Both the S2000 and Miata are a delight to drive — with a liveliness you don’t find in many cars anymore — and these two are priced very similarly: The S2000 is listed for $13,000 while the Miata’s seller is asking $14,000. Even though it’s now nearly two decades old, the S2000 has just 84,000 miles on it. The newer Miata has considerably fewer miles: just 24,500.

What say you? Would you take the older, high-revving, higher-output S2000 or the newer, flingable Miata that’s been “tenderly cared for,” in the seller’s words? Share your thoughts on the Cars.com Facebook page.

Editor’s note: We have not examined these vehicles or reviewed their maintenance records. All claims are made by the sellers. Cars.com has more than 1.7 million used cars for sale. Whether you’re looking for a sports car or pickup truck, there’s probably one that fits your needs. Click here to search for cars near you.
