What if You Could Control Your Car With Your iPhone?

Delphi introduced a cool idea at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas: Software that can link your iPhone to your car, allowing you to control a whole slew of vehicle features from up to a mile away.
I’m pretty sure Pierce Brosnan had something like this in a James Bond movie, but give Delphi credit for making it a bit more practical.
While you wouldn’t be able to drive away from Russian bad guys while crouched in the backseat, the phone would be able to unlock your doors, start your car and adjust the cabin temperature remotely, and those are just the biggest perks. Additional features would allow you to monitor your tire pressure, check your oil and brake fluid, and roll up your windows if it starts to rain, all through your phone.
The system works through a “Bluetooth-enabled keyfob” that links your phone to your vehicle. While the software remains in the concept phase, it sounds like it could be yet another must-have feature for anyone who already owns a phone that does everything but whip up baked goods.
