The Hyundai Accent subcompact is what we like to call, long in the tooth. The little car offers a lot of value, but it isn’t as cutting edge or even as livable as the Toyota Yaris or Ford’s new Fiesta. That looks to change, with a new model rolled out today at the Beijing auto show.
Called Verna in South Korea, the new Accent seems to mimic the style of the recently redesigned Hyundai Sonata. But because of the smaller dimensions, it looks a little stubby to us. The interior looks like a nice upgrade and would certainly make an alluring entry-level option in the company’s lineup.
Hyundai’s American arm wouldn’t comment on whether this is the same car we’ll get in the U.S., but spokesman Dan Bedore did say to expect a replacement for the current Accent in 2011. We have more pictures below, but let us know if you think this is right for the U.S. or not.
