Today the New York International Auto Show announced that Kia would debut the 2012 Rio sedan and Rio5 hatchback during the show’s media preview next week. It also let loose that the Rio lineup will get more horsepower than the current model, but more impressive still is that it will achieve a highway mileage rating above 40 mpg. The 2011 Rio gets 36 mpg highway. The European Rio5 is shown above.
The popular Kia Soul will also get some updates for the 2012 model year, namely to power and fuel efficiency. A new six-speed transmission will help get “nearly” 35 mpg on the highway. The 2011 Soul gets 31 mpg highway with its 1.6-liter four-cylinder. There will also be LED headlights.
