2013 Mercedes-Benz G-Class: First Look
The G-Class originally hit the market in 1979 and its iconic, boxy shape has remained unchanged through the years. It retains that look for 2013 and is augmented by stylish LED daytime running lamps and new side mirrors. An AMG version returns to the lineup for the new model year: The G63 AMG model adds an updated double louver grille with a new bumper featuring larger air intakes. Red brake calipers and 20-inch wheels are optional.
Interior updates include a redesigned instrument cluster and center console, and the addition of several standard features. New this year on G-Class is the Comand multimedia system with navigation and internet access as well as mbrace, Mercedes-Benz’s subscription-based telecommunications service. Other new standard features include a blind spot warning system, a parking assist system and adaptive cruise control.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz G-Class goes on sale this August. Prices haven’t yet been announced, but last year’s G550 started at $ 107,100, excluding an $875 destination charge.
