The Passat family sedan reflects Volkswagen’s bigger and bolder styling direction, which consumers may also recognize in the Jetta sedan. They look similar, but the Passat is larger than the Jetta and has a larger footprint than the previous-generation Passat. With seating for five, it competes with midsize sedans like the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Kia Optima. New for 2014 The Passat’s new 170-horsepower, turbocharged 1.8-liter gas four-cylinder replaces the car’s 2.5-liter five-cylinder. It appears first on SEL trims and spreads to other versions later in the model year. SE and higher trim levels now have a backup camera, and SE models can also have two-tone seats. A Sport trim level has also been added to the lineup.
Volkswagen’s Car-Net communication system is also available for the Passat. It includes services like roadside assistance, crash notification and stolen vehicle location assistance as well as boundary and speed alerts, a vehicle health report and an enhanced point-of-interest service for vehicles with navigation.
