The 2015 Acura TLX Prototype sports a cleaner, tamer look with a shorter nose than its predecessor’s beaklike styling; it falls between the compact ILX and the full-size RLX in size and seats five. Acura is only showing us the midsize luxury sedan’s exterior this week at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, so we’ll have to wait until closer to its summer launch to show you what’s in the cabin.
We do, however, know what’s under the hood: a direct-injected 2.4-liter four-cylinder mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission or a 3.5-liter V-6, also direct-injected. Moreover, a new body construction is said to reduce interior noise. Safety equipment includes collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control and a low-speed follow feature, and a blind spot warning system.
