CARS.COM

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 9,200 model-year 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI sedans equipped with an optional factory-installed subwoofer in the trunk

The Problem: Items in the trunk may cause the subwoofer wiring to contact the subwoofer’s metal frame, possibly resulting in an electrical short. This could damage the subwoofer amplifier and may result in the subwoofer overheating, increasing the risk of a fire.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the subwoofer wire, install a wire retainer clip and replace the subwoofer, as necessary, for free.

What Owners Should Do: Subaru began notifying owners today. Owners can call the automaker at 800-782-2783, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
