2016 Ford F-150 Shines in IIHS Crash Tests

CARS.COM — The 2016 Ford F-150 stands alone in the half-ton pickup truck class as the only one to earn the Top Safety Pick designation, when equipped with the optional forward collision warning system, from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

IIHS tested two-wheel-drive versions of Ford’s F-150 SuperCab (the SuperCrew was tested in 2015), the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew and double cabs, the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 crew and double cabs, the 2016 Ram 1500 crew and quad cabs, and the 2016 Toyota Tundra CrewMax and double cab.

The F-150 earned an overall rating of good and the Silverado double cab, Sierra double cab and Tundra double cab all received overall acceptable ratings. The rest of the tested trucks earned overall ratings of marginal. No truck received the lowest overall rating of poor.
