CARS.COM — While you’re waiting for that 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF Retractable Hardtop everyone was blowing their tops over at the 2016 New York International Auto Show in March, we’re afraid you’re just gonna hafta be content with the “regular old” 2016 version. It’s lucky for us all that in the eyes of some experts/Miata loyalists the 2016 model was decidedly the Best. Miata. Ever.
The 2016 Miata was shortened more than an inch and it shed about 150 pounds to be the lightest since the first two generations. Meanwhile, a styling overhaul gave it a swoopier, more contoured shape and a meaner looking face, and the interior feels roomier and more comfortable than the previous generation.
So, we’re sorry you’re stuck waiting for that awesome hardtop version to come out, but let’s face it: The wait could be a hell of a lot worse. Check out the gallery below and tell us we’re wrong.
