2017 Cadillac XT5 Starts at $39,990

CARS.COM — When Cadillac’s new SUV goes on sale in early April, the 2017 XT5 will range from $39,990 to $63,495, including the $995 destination charge. The midsize XT5 replaces the SRX and gives Cadillac a fresh entry in the hot luxury crossover segment. It is similar in size to the SRX but has 3.2 inches more rear legroom and is more than 250 pounds lighter. It is the first model to use Cadillac’s new XT designation for crossovers.

All models will have a 310-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 engine with cylinder deactivation, a new eight-speed automatic transmission and start-stop technology. The base XT5 will come with front-wheel drive. The Luxury and Premium Luxury models will have standard front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive will be optional. The top-line Platinum model will have standard all-wheel drive.

The base price on the Luxury model is $45,890; the Premium Luxury model starts at $52,890.

All models have new touch-screen controls for climate and multimedia functions that Cadillac says are faster than previous versions. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Interior trim choices include wood, aluminum and carbon fiber, depending on the model. Options include a panoramic sunroof (which eats up some rear headroom) and a rearview monitoring system that uses cameras to display a wide-angle image in the LCD inside mirror.

Among available safety features are forward collision warning, automatic front and rear braking for low-speed conditions, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic parking and adaptive cruise control.
