2017 Jeep Compass: Recall Alert

img484757996 1500911003029 jpeg

CARS.COM

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 13,000 model-year 2017 Jeep Compass SUVs

The Problem: The user guide may contain incorrect information regarding the jumpstart procedure — specifically, the polarity of the battery terminals are reversed in the battery terminal graphic. If a customer follows the user guide, they may hook up the battery jumper cables incorrectly, increasing the risk of an injury.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the user guide with a corrected version for free.

What Owners Should Do: Jeep manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will begin notifying owners on Aug. 21. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
