CARS.COM — The 2017 Prius Prime replaces the previous-generation Prius Plug-in hybrid; it’s being showcased at the 2016 New York International Auto Show. Longer by 2.4 inches, wider by 0.6 inches and sitting almost an entire inch lower than the outgoing model, the Prius Prime has an edgier and more aggressive look. Sharp lines run front to back and from the rear passenger doors to the taillights. Quad LED headlights dominate the front, and LED taillights out back make a distinctive shape that will be instantly recognizable on a dark night.
Inside, the Prime seats four with the center console running the length of the cabin. Toyota says this makes the interior look “more like a high-end luxury coupe.” We doubt you’ll confuse the two. The gauge panel is still centrally mounted, as it has been in previous generations. An available 11.6-inch HD tablet display offers touch controls and sharp graphics for multimedia, navigation and vehicle information.
