The new Sport trim level is something of a value trim, adding a dose of extra sportiness and additional features to the Premium model for less money than trying to add them a la carte. The current A6 is nearing the end of its cycle, last refreshed for the 2016 model year, with a redone A6 to take on the updated BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans expected to be unveiled as early as next year.

The A6 Sport starts at $52,175 (all prices include a $975 destination charge) — $1,500 more than the base Premium model, with the 252-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

A Sport 2.0T with Quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission starts at $54,375. A Sport 3.0T with the 340-hp, turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6, eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive starts at $58,975.

Though a photo of the A6 Sport is not yet available (the manufacturer illustration above is a 2017 A6 with black trim), according to Audi spokeswoman Amanda Koons, the Sport adds to the Premium:

  • Sport suspension
  • 19-inch 10-spoke wheels with a dark-matte finish and all-season tires
  • A Black Optic appearance package, including the grille and high-gloss black mirrors
  • Audi’s blind spot warning and Pre Sense Rear system that prepares the car if it detects an impending rear collision.
  • Heated, automatic-dimming and power-folding side mirrors
  • A sport steering wheel and piano-black (2.0T) or carbon-fiber (3.0) interior trim depending on engine choice

Options for the Sport trim level include real birchwood interior trim, 20-inch black wheels and a cold-weather package with a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats.
