2018 BMW 5 Series: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: 12 model-year 2018 BMW 540d xDrive sedans

The Problem: The crankshaft sensor may be equipped with incorrect firmware, possibly causing the vehile to stall and increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the crankshaft sensor for free.

What Owners Should Do: BMW will begin notifying owners Aug. 27. Owners can call the automaker at 800-525-7417, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
