CARS.COM —  Buick has wasted no time expanding its upscale Avenir concept to a second vehicle, the 2018 LaCrosse full-size sedan. The Avenir is intended to be a new, higher trim level of Buick models, similar to GMC’s Denali versions of its trucks and SUVs, with more standard offerings and some fancier features.

Buick aims to emulate the success GMC has had with that higher-status sub-brand, and last month rolled out its first Avenir: a new top version of the redesigned 2018 Enclave three-row SUV. The LaCrosse Avenir will go on sale in early 2018.

As with the Enclave, Buick sees potential for the higher trim level because a majority of LaCrosse buyers already are loading up the vehicles with options.

“Nine out of 10 LaCrosse buyers are choosing one of the top two trim levels — customers are signaling they want more from Buick,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president for Buick and GMC worldwide, in a statement. “With even more content and an elegant look, Avenir adds a unique name and appearance for those who want the best of our attainable luxury.”

The LaCrosse Avenir features follow closely on the Enclave Avenir in also getting its own three-dimensional grille insert and wheel designs (19-inch standard; 20-inch optional). It also gets its own leather interior in an exclusive Chestnut color, with the Avenir name on the head restraints and door sills. LaCrosse Avenirs also will offer a black interior.

Features that are optional on some other LaCrosse models that are standard on the Avenir include a 310-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 with nine-speed automatic transmission, a multimedia system with navigation, premium Bose audio and a panoramic moonroof.

Still optional on the LaCrosse Avenir are a twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system, adaptive suspension and advanced safety technology package, including a front collision system with automatic braking and pedestrian detection, and full-speed adaptive cruise control.
