CARS.COM — Ford is finally entering the subcompact SUV market in the U.S. with the 2018 EcoSport, making its North American debut at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. On sale for nearly a decade in other markets around the globe, the EcoSport wears Ford’s signature trapezoidal grille and traditional small SUV styling. It looks a lot like a squished Ford Escape. The atypical rear swing gate, hinged on the left, features wraparound blacked-out glass similar to the Buick Encore. The “sporty” SES trim will feature unique styling cues to distinguish it from the S, SE and Titanium trim levels.

Inside are few features visibly different from a typical Ford’s interior. On the Titanium trim, this means an upscale appearance that would rival the Buick Encore. An 8-inch touchscreen with Sync 3 is standard on Titanium models, and lesser trims get either a 4- or 6-inch touchscreen with Sync 3 as an optional feature. Folding and stowable rear seats combine with a false floorboard to create a flat cargo floor when needed, and there are numerous storage compartments, hooks, nooks and cubbies for smaller items.
