2019 Genesis G70 Come Out Swinging at Under $36K

Fans of the gorgeous Kia Stinger should find even more to like about the new upscale iteration of the car from budding luxury brand Genesis, the 2019 G70. The compact sports sedan goes on sale this week starting at $35,895 (all prices include destination), moderately more than the Stinger’s $32,800 entry price.
The G70 is the third car in Genesis’ lineup — Hyundai’s standalone luxury arm — and slots below the G80 and G90 sedans.

The 2.0T model is offered in six trim levels: Advanced, Elite, Prestige, Dynamic, Sport and Sport M/T. The 3.3T models start at $44,745 and are available in four trim levels: Advanced, Elite, Prestige and Sport. There are also two limited-production Special Edition 3.3T packages: Dynamic Special Edition and Design Special Edition. Genesis is limiting production of these models to 400 units each.
The base model is equipped with standard features like a hands-free smart trunk, an 8-inch display audio screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, imitation leather seats and surfaces, and a 12-way power driver’s seat including four-way power lumbar support. All-wheel drive and a heated steering wheel are bundled together on the G70 Advanced 2.0T AWD model, which starts at $37,895.
The Elite model adds many luxury must-haves, like leather seats, heated and ventilated seats, navigation, a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, a moonroof and an upgraded 15-speaker audio system. That model starts at $40,895.
Genesis was also generous with the safety and driver assistance standards, like forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and a driver attention warning system.
The 2019 G70 competes against the likes of the BMW 340i, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, all of which start higher by a little to a lot. The BMW 340i starts at $49,945, the A4 at $36,975 and the C-Class at $42,395; see them compared.
