2019 Lexus ES: I'm Not a Grille, Not Yet a Sedan

After teasing the world with an image of an updated grille on what was openly rumored to be the all-new ES luxury sedan, Lexus revealed the rest of the car this week with a new image and brief video.

The ES gets an updated version of the polarizing spindle grille that’s become a Lexus signature and is arguably the only thing about its cars that’s sparked much debate. The rest of the exterior features some extremely slim headlights, more aggressive lines and a rear end that includes a spoiler — ooooh! — and a liftback-esque look.

No further details are included with the photo and video, so dimensions, powertrain and fuel-economy specs, and trim pricing are all guesses at best. Whatever the new ES has, Lexus says it “springs from a reimagined luxury equation.” Like Athena springing from Zeus’ forehead, but with math.

Full information about the Lexus ES should arrive at the car’s official debut on April 25 at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show — barring any other teasers. Cars.com will … not have our team of automotive journalists covering the China show live from the exhibit floor, but we’ll still bring you our full coverage and impressions of the ES after the reveal.
