Ford’s next generation of infotainment, Sync 4, which will debut on the upcoming 2021 Mustang Mach-E and redesigned F-150, will include in-car navigation — standard on the Mustang Mach-E and optional on the F-150 — that features real-time traffic updates powered by Dutch location-technology provider TomTom.

Those real-time traffic updates are brought to you by TomTom Traffic’s ability to process “more than 70 million driving hours every day from millions of connected devices” and Ford’s claim that the increased processing power of the new Sync 4 system can update the navigation system every 30 seconds.

In addition to the real-time traffic information and updated route guidance, Mustang Mach-E owners will be able to use the car’s Intelligent Range feature to more accurately measure available range and guide the car toward nearby charging stations if necessary. (Other all-electric vehicles have similar capabilities, which can be used to plan a longer trip outside the vehicle’s total range.)

The 2021 F-150 will be available in the fall, according to Ford, while the Mustang Mach-E should arrive toward the end of 2020.
