2022 Nissan Armada Sees Few Changes, Starting Price Holds Steady

Nissan gave its full-sized Armada SUV a long-awaited refresh for 2021 with exterior styling tweaks, a modernized interior, technology upgrades and a modest increase to horsepower and torque. The 2022 Armada returns with minimal changes and a slight increase to the price of the high-level SL trim.

A new Midnight Edition was introduced for 2021 and returns for 2022. The appearance package adds darkened exterior elements including black badging, mirrors, roof rails, a black-painted grille and skid plates.
What’s New for 2022?
Only the SL trim level’s price increases for 2022 — up $410 for the new model year. The Armada otherwise remains largely unchanged, adding a standard one-touch power-folding third-row seat for the range-topping Platinum trim. The three-row SUV is powered by a 5.6-liter V-8 for 400 horsepower and 413 pounds-feet of torque; towing capacity maxes out at 8,500 pounds.
Pricing and Packages
The 2022 Nissan Armada is on sale now and available in S, SV, SL and Platinum trims. Each model comes with either rear- or all-wheel drive. Prices are noted below (including a $1,495 destination fee) with no changes unless noted.
- S: $50,395 (4×2), $53,895 (4×4)
- SV: $53,995 (4×2), $56,995 (4×4)
- SL: $57,395 (4×2), $60,395 (4×4) ($410 increase)
- Platinum: $66,395 (4×2), $69,395 (4×4)
Three packages are offered for 2022 including the Appearance Package for the SV at $2,500, Midnight Edition for the SL at $1,990 and a Captain’s Chairs Package that can be added to the SL and Platinum for an additional $650.
How Does It Stack Up?
The Armada’s refresh for 2021 made it more competitive in the full-size SUV class, where it competes against SUVs like the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition and Toyota Sequoia. The 2022 Armada’s starting price falls below those three SUVs, yet the Armada boasts higher standard horsepower and tow ratings.
The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe starts at $51,195 and features a standard 355-hp, 5.3-liter V-8 engine and a max towing capacity of 8,400 pounds. The Ford Expedition ($52,290 to start) has a standard twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine that makes 375 hp and can tow 6,000 pounds; an optional Trailer Tow Package increases that to a maximum of 9,300 pounds. Finally, the 2022 Toyota Sequoia ($51,995) packs a 5.7-liter V-8 with 381 hp that can tow up to 7,400 pounds.
