Audi is getting on board with the rolling-change, model-year-be-damned update practices of other electric vehicle manufacturers with a mid-year revision to its electric 2024 Q4 e-Tron SUV. The all-wheel-drive Q4 50 is gone, replaced by the Q4 55.

Powertrain Spec Enhancements

The Q4 55 e-Tron boasts an additional 40 horsepower relative to the Q4 50, now totaling 335 hp. Audi says this cuts acceleration from 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds to 5 seconds flat. The increase is thanks to a new rear electric motor that is not only more powerful, but more efficient.

Although the battery pack has the same 77 kilowatt-hours of usable capacity as before, Audi says range stretches another 22 miles, bringing the Q4 55 to 258 miles on a full charge (an official figure from the EPA is not yet available). Audi also tweaked the battery chemistry to allow the Q4 55 to take DC fast charging of up to 175 kilowatts, compared to the Q4 50’s 150 kW. The company says this will drop the time it takes to charge from 10% to 80% to about 28 minutes. If the driver sets a public charger as the destination in the navigation system, the Q4 e-Tron will precondition its battery, heating it to an ideal temperature to speed up charging in cold weather. The Q4 55 also now features post-conditioning to cool the battery after charging.

Chassis engineers also got a crack at the Q4 55, retuning the suspension and steering. New 21-inch wheels identify the updated model.

Availability and Pricing

The 2024 Audi Q4 55 e-Tron is available to order now, and deliveries are set to begin in April. Despite the upgrades, pricing for the Q4 55 e-Tron is unchanged from the Q4 50. The base variant starts at $56,395, and the Sportback version starts at $59,395 (both prices include $1,195 destination).
