2024 BMW XM Label Red: The Most Powerful M Model Produced

BMW has a long and established tradition of pushing the performance envelope, especially for its M-badged models. The BMW XM hybrid is no exception: The German automaker has just unveiled the all-new 2024 XM Label Red, which will be the most powerful M model ever built, according to BMW.

Performance for the 2024 XM Label Red comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine that’s paired with an electric motor and a 19.2-kilowatt-hour battery to produce a combined system output of 738 horsepower and 738 pounds-feet of torque — increases of 94 hp and 148 pounds-feet, respectively, over the base XM. The Label Red also comes with the M Hybrid system, which not only makes the transition between the electric motor and gasoline engine smoother, but also provides more immediate power delivery. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard. Also standard are an adaptive suspension, rear-wheel steering and M Sport brakes.
BMW says the XM Label Red can make the sprint to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph or 175 mph with the available M Driver’s Package. The automaker also states that the Label Red has an all-electric range of about 30 miles, is able to travel up to 87 mph in Electric mode and can charge from 0% to 100% in just over three hours.

The XM Label Red retains the base XM’s design character with the bold grille and wild exterior styling. However, Label Red variants stand out by adding red badging and wheel accents, as well as metallic red bands on the sides that replace the standard black bands. In addition to the existing paint colors, a small number of Label Red models will be produced with Frozen Carbon Black paint, which is a type of matte paint that BMW says will help create a distinctive visual profile with the contrasting gloss accents.
Inside, the XM Label Red maintains the black-and-red color theme with a black three-dimensional headliner and body-pillar trim. Red accents and contrast stitching are used on the seats, dashboard, center console and door trim. A red XM logo is below the controls, and the dashboard features a carbon-fiber trim strip with red and blue threads.
Pricing for the 2024 XM Label Red will be revealed closer to when the model begins production in August.
