The GMC Hummer EV nameplate is one of the fastest-selling new EVs in Cars.com’s inventory, and inventory has skyrocketed in the past few months with thousands available nationally. While you may think the Hummer EVs are ridiculous (you’re right, they are), the SUV variant is also surprisingly livable, fun to drive and has several characteristics that make it a luxury SUV many shoppers should be considering alongside a Rivian R1S, Tesla Model X or any of Mercedes’ $100,000-plus EQ SUVs. We recently tested two different 2024 Hummer EV SUVs in 3X trim. This model has three electric motors for 830 horsepower and an EPA-rated range of up to 314 miles. The first 3X we drove had the standard 22-inch wheels and tires, and we tested its 0-60 mph and quarter-mile acceleration performance. The second 3X was bright orange and had the optional Extreme Off-Road Package that, for an also-extreme $9,995, includes smaller 18-inch wheels and thick-sidewall mud-terrain tires instead of the standard all-terrain tires, skid plates, heavier-duty driveline components and electronically locking front and rear differentials.

In the video, we cover the reasons why the Hummer EV SUV has quickly become one of our favorite electric luxury SUVs.
