2025 Mini Hardtop Sticks With Gas Power, Priced From $29,945
While Mini remains committed to a fully electric lineup by 2030 and the two-door Hardtop is new for the 2025 model year, the transition to electric power isn’t happening just yet. When Mini’s core model arrives on U.S. shores in the spring, there will be a gas engine under its hood.

Familiar, Yet Refined
Minimalist exterior styling features a rounded body and floating contrast-color roof with black pillars that make the 2025 Cooper Hardtop unmistakable for anything else. In addition to three solid-color choices for the roof, buyers will be able to opt for the new Multitone Roof, which features a three-color gradient front to rear, starting in July. Personalization being a key Mini characteristic, numerous 17- and 18-inch wheel designs are also available.
Inside, a simplified layout concentrates controls to the steering wheel and a row of toggle switches (including one for the shifter) below a round central display. Measuring 9.4 inches in diameter, the high-resolution organic light-emitting diode display functions as both gauge cluster and infotainment touchscreen.
Powertrain Specs
Mini is withholding specs on the 2024 Cooper Hardtop for now, saying only that it will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Cooper S packs a 2.0-liter four that Mini hasn’t confirmed will be turbocharged but likely is given its 201 horsepower and 221 pounds-feet of torque. Mini has previously revealed the electric version of the new-generation Cooper Hardtop, which we expect will arrive in the U.S. in the next few years.
Availability and Pricing
The 2025 Mini Cooper S Hardtop will go on sale first, with production set to begin in March. Pricing will start at $33,195. Mini will start building the base Cooper in July; it will start at $29,945 (all prices include $995 destination fee).
