Key Points

  • Kia released teaser images for the 2027 Telluride that show a blockier face with more dramatic slitlike headlights and a curvier body.
  • The second-generation Kia Telluride will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show Nov. 20.

When Kia’s largest SUV debuted for the 2020 model-year, we called it a triumph. The Telluride won us over as a comfy, classy and affordable three-row SUV. Today, Kia announced the second-generation Telluride is coming for 2027.

The teaser photos don’t give much away, but it looks like the new Telluride will continue to lean into its hallmark blocky styling, with the 2027 model wearing an even more squared-off face flanked by dramatic slitlike headlights. The new version gets some more curves, too, with rounded fenders and more shapely body sides.

It’s no surprise that Kia is debuting a redesigned Telluride given that its corporate twin, the Hyundai Palisade, was just redesigned for 2026. The new Palisade also got blockier styling, a new off-road-oriented trim, and more comfort and tech features. The big news for the new Palisade’s lineup was the addition of a hybrid powertrain, which uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a pair of electric motors for a total combined output of 329 horsepower and 339 pounds-feet of torque. If Kia follows the Palisade’s blueprint, the Telluride’s redesign should be promising.

The two have something of a sibling rivalry going on, as well. Historically, the Telluride has come up just a tiny bit short compared to the Palisade. In Cars.com testing, the Telluride came in second place, losing to the Palisade, in our 2022 3-Row SUV Challenge, and it came in fourth place in Cars.com’s 2024 3-Row SUV Challenge, again ultimately losing to the Palisade.

But the first-gen Telluride has stood on its own and won some Cars.com awards, as well, with the 2022 and 2024 models earning Cars.com’s Family Car of the Year awards. So, the new model has some big shoes to fill.

We won’t have to wait long to see how it’ll stack up: The second-gen Kia Telluride will debut at the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show Nov. 20. Stay tuned for more details.
