Chrysler’s Let’s Refuel America plan is a creative bit of marketing, but as we discussed last week, it isn’t exactly the best deal on each Chrysler model. One of the complaints — aside from the fact that customers might be better off buying more fuel-efficient vehicles — is that, depending on mileage, some previous Chrysler cash-back incentives would have saved more money than the gas deal.
Now, on a few models, Chrysler is addressing that problem. Dodge is offering the gas deal in addition to $3,000 on the Ram 1500 and Durango, $1,500 on the Charger R/T, $1,000 on the Avenger SE, Caliber SE and Dakota Crew Cab SLT. Buyers can also get the gas deal plus $2,000 on the Jeep Commander and Grand Cherokee and the Chrysler Aspen. Offers, good on 2008 models, were available in every region we tested, but check your local zip code on Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep sites to be sure. The cash-back deals expire June 2.
That extra cash beefs up those gas deals considerably. Instead of a mere $1,200 — in some cases — in gas money saved over three years, customers can pile their gas savings, which will rise with gas prices, on top of an immediate cash-back deal.
