We don’t do posts on most new radar or GPS devices, only those that are truly newsworthy. The new Cobra XRS R9G ($449.95) is the first radar detector in the U.S. with GPS. Why is that important, neat, worth $450? Because the XRS R9G — rolls right off the tongue, doesn’t it? — can store the locations of red-light and speed cameras after they’ve been detected. So if you take that third option to get home around traffic only once a month, you won’t forget where all the cameras are. Cobra is looking to add even better functionality to alert drivers to high-accident zones, school zones and construction zones. Plus, the XRS R9G still detects those pesky radar guns.
