Engine Flub Prompts Nissan Recall

As far as mass-marketed four-bangers go, Nissan’s 2.5-liter engine is not bad. Unfortunately, reports of power failure in the 2003 Sentra and Altima have prompted the automaker to recall more than 200,000 copies of both cars with said engine. Changes in temperature can reportedly disrupt an internal sensor, leading to sudden shutdowns in stop-and-go traffic.

Engine stalls during the morning grind are no doubt inconvenient – and possibly dangerous, as many cars disable airbags and other safety devices upon shutdown, something you wouldn’t want happening if you were surrounded by moving traffic.
