CARS.COM — GM this morning announced a stop-sale order on approximately 1,800 sedans and pickup trucks due to malfunctioning airbags. Affected vehicles include model-year 2016 Chevrolet Malibu sedans and Colorado pickup trucks, and GMC Canyon pickup trucks.
According to Reuters, a notice distributed to GM dealers stated that the driver-side frontal airbag may not inflate completely in a high-speed crash that triggers second-stage deployment, increasing the risk of an injury. There have been no injuries related to this issue, and it’s unrelated to the massive ongoing recall of airbags manufactured by Japan’s Takata Corp., Reuters reported.
