Which Should You Buy, 2021 or 2022? Model-year 2021 offers a better value since there are no major changes for 2022.
Honda’s bestselling CR-V returns for 2022 with minimal changes and a $400 price bump across trim levels for both gas-only and hybrid models. The only change for the 2022 CR-V is the elimination of front-wheel drive for the top Touring trim; all-wheel drive is now the standard and only drivetrain.

The Honda CR-V offers one of the most spacious interiors among compact SUVs, a robust list of safety features and excellent fuel economy, especially in the hybrid model. The gas-only models are powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission for 190 horsepower and 179 pounds-feet of torque. The CR-V gets an EPA-estimated combined rating of 29 mpg with AWD or 30 mpg with FWD. Hybrid models come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors for 212 hp, and an EPA-estimated combined rating of 38 mpg.
Standard driver-assist and active safety technology across all models include lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking that can slow down the vehicle’s speed if a potential front collision is detected. Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base LX trim.
Shoppers looking for advanced connectivity features and more creature comforts should skip the base LX model. The CR-V LX gets a standard 5-inch multimedia screen, while all higher trims offer a larger 7-inch high-resolution screen. The base model also misses out on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, which comes standard on all other trims.
The top-tier CR-V Touring trim adds standard AWD, navigation with voice recognition, a premium 9-speaker audio system and wireless phone charging. Heated seats come standard on the EX, EX-L and Touring, and can be leather-wrapped in the EX-L and up.
2022 Pricing
All starting prices increase by $400 from model-year 2021, and the CR-V’s destination charge remains unchanged at $1,225. AWD adds $1,500 to all but the Touring and hybrid models.
