CARS.COM — Honda has posted an appetizer video teasing the looks and sounds of the 2017 Civic Type R hot hatchback that will make its U.S. debut April 12 at the New York International Auto Show.
The production model of the latest-generation Type R was unveiled in early March in Geneva, which has had previous versions of the hottest Civic. But this model, overdue for the U.S. along with the regular Civic hatch that we just got, finally will be sold here starting late spring.
“The fastest, most powerful Honda ever sold in America, the Type R caps off the incredible success story of our 10th-generation Civic lineup,” said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and the U.S. Honda Division’s general manager, in a statement. “We’re happy to inform our U.S. enthusiasts that the long wait for the forbidden fruit of Honda Type R performance is nearly over!”
Along with this wildly trimmed, 306-horsepower red meat entree, Honda also will make sure we eat our vegetables in New York with the debuts of the electric and plug-in hybrid version of its Clarity green machine.
