How Do Car Seats Fit in a 2024 Nissan Rogue?

Nissan refreshed its Rogue for the 2024 model year with an updated face and redesigned infotainment system. The compact SUV received high grades in our Car Seat Check thanks to easy lower Latch anchors and ample room for two car seats. In addition, the Rogue has an extra lower anchor that makes it more flexible for installing a car seat in the middle seat.

Does it fit three car seats? No.

Take a look at how the Latch system and each car seat scored below in our Car Seat Check of the 2024 Nissan Rogue.

Latch: Grade A

The Rogue has two sets of lower Latch anchors in the outboard seats under flip-up covers and an additional lower Latch anchor positioned for the middle seat; this allows parents to install a car seat in the middle seat using the Latch system by using the fifth anchor and one of the outboard seat’s anchors. Keep in mind that if you choose to install a car seat in the middle seat with the Latch anchors, you won’t be able to use that shared Latch anchor for another car seat as Latch anchors aren’t designed to support more than one connection.

The three top tether anchors sit midway down the rear seatbacks. They’re marked with a label but sit under slits in the seat’s upholstery, so they require some digging to access.

Infant Seat: Grade A

The Rogue’s roomy backseat meant that we had plenty of room to accommodate our rear-facing infant seat without impacting our 5-foot-6-inch front passenger’s legroom. Installation with the Chicco KeyFit 30’s rigid Latch connectors was easy.

Rear-Facing Convertible: Grade A

This rear-facing car seat also had ample room in the backseat. The Graco Contender 65’s hooklike Latch connectors connected quickly to the Rogue’s Latch anchors.

Forward-Facing Convertible: B

The convertible seat installed easily in its forward-facing position, but we downgraded its overall rating because we had to dig around to expose the tether anchor in the seatback’s upholstery. It fit well on the flat seat after removing the head restraint.

Booster Seat: A

The Rogue’s flat rear seats made it easy to position the high-back booster seat, and we removed the head restraint to situate it flush against the seatback. The seat belt buckles sit up high and are easy to grasp; a cutout in the seat cushion means the buckles didn’t flop over. Kids should be able to buckle up independently.

Grading Scale

A: Plenty of room for the car seat and the child; doesn’t impact driver or front-passenger legroom. Easy to find and connect to Latch and tether anchors. No fit issues involving head restraint or seat contouring. Easy access to the third row.

B: One room, fit or connection issue. Some problems accessing the third row when available.

C: Marginal room plus one fit or connection issue. Difficult to access the third row when available.

D: Insufficient room, plus multiple fit or connection issues.

F: Does not fit or is unsafe.

About Cars.com’s Car Seat Checks

Editors Jennifer Geiger and Jennifer Newman are certified child safety seat installation technicians.

For the Car Seat Check, we use a Chicco KeyFit 30 infant-safety seat, a Graco Contender 65 convertible seat and Graco TurboBooster seat. The front seats are adjusted for a 6-foot driver and a shorter passenger. The three child seats are installed in the second row. The booster seat sits behind the driver’s seat, and the infant and convertible seats are installed behind the front passenger seat.

We also install the forward-facing convertible in the second row’s middle seat with the booster and infant seat in the outboard seats to see if three car seats will fit; a child sitting in the booster seat must be able to reach the seat belt buckle. If there’s a third row, we install the booster seat and a forward-facing convertible. Learn more about how we conduct our Car Seat Checks.

Parents should also remember that they can use the Latch system or a seat belt to install a car seat, and that Latch anchors have a weight limit of 65 pounds, including the weight of the child and the weight of the seat itself.
