How Does the All-New 2026 Toyota RAV4 Compare to the 2026 Honda CR-V?

The Toyota RAV4 was the bestselling, non-pickup truck vehicle in the U.S. for 2024 and the third bestselling vehicle overall, and the Honda CR-V was right behind it in fifth place overall. The two compact SUVs are age-old rivals, and with the debut of the all-new 2026 RAV4, we wanted to see how the specs of the two compare.

For 2026, the RAV4 gets redesigned and is fully electrified, with either a traditional hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain. The 2026 CR-V, meanwhile, retains an available gas engine but expands the lineup of its hybrid powertrain to include an on-trend, rugged-looking TrailSport trim.
How Do the RAV4 and CR-V Compare for Horsepower?
2026 RAV4
- Hybrid
- Front-wheel drive: 226 horsepower
- All-wheel drive: 236 hp
- PHEV
- AWD: Up to 320 hp
2026 CR-V
- Gas-only turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder
- FWD, AWD: 190 hp
- Hybrid
- FWD, AWD: 204 hp
The RAV4 has more power than the CR-V by a significant amount; even the least powerful Toyota packs more ponies under the hood than any version of the CR-V. Both vehicles also demonstrate differing powertrain strategies. The Toyota is only available as a hybrid or PHEV, while the CR-V retains a traditional internal combustion engine alongside its hybrid powertrain.
How Do the RAV4 and CR-V’s Dimensions Compare?
2026 RAV4
- Length
- 180.9 inches (LE, XLE, Limited, SE, XSE)
- 181.8 inches (Woodland, GR Sport)
- Width
- 73 inches (LE, XLE, Limited)
- 74 inches (Woodland, SE, XSE, GR Sport)
- Height
- 66.4 inches (GR Sport)
- 67 inches (LE, XLE, Limited, SE, XSE)
- 67.8 inches (Woodland)
- Wheelbase
- 105.9 inches (All trims)
2026 CR-V
- Length

- Width
- 73.4 inches (All trims)
- Height
- 66.2 inches (FWD)
- 66.6 inches (AWD)
- Wheelbase
- 106.3 inches (All trims)
Unsurprisingly, these two extremely similar vehicles are similar sizes. The Honda has a slight edge in overall length and wheelbase, while the some trims of the RAV4 are wider and taller. It will be interesting to compare interior dimensions once those are available, as well as see how the RAV4 hybrid and PHEV fare in our proprietary cargo testing. We measured the CR-V hybrid at 20.2 cubic feet during our most recent compact SUV comparison.
How Do the RAV4 and CR-V’s Touchscreen Sizes Compare?
2026 RAV4
- 10.5 inches (LE, XLE, Woodland, SE)
- 12.9 inches (Limited, XSE, GR Sport)
2026 CR-V
- 9 inches
Neither automaker is currently among the class leaders when it comes to touchscreen tech, but the Toyota has a universal advantage over the Honda when it comes to touchscreen real estate. Some RAV4 trims get a 10.5-inch screen, while higher trims upgrade to a 12.9-inch display. The CR-V, meanwhile, eliminates screen-related debate by making a 9-inch touchscreen standard across its entire lineup.
