All-new generation of the Lexus mid-size luxury sedan
Available as a PHEV or pure EV
The Lexus ES is moving away from its mainstream roots as a luxury spinoff of the Toyota Camry. The all-new 2026 ES offers shoppers a choice between plug-in hybrid or electric powertrains. It’s one of only a handful of vehicles to offer both PHEV and EV powertrains in one wrapper, but one thing is unique even among this select crowd: With a starting price of under $50,000, the EV is cheaper than the PHEV.
The 2026 Lexus ES will go on sale later in the year. Full pricing (including $1,295 destination charge) is as follows:
Lexus ES 350h Plug-in Hybrid Pricing
ES 350h Premium: $50,995
ES 350h Premium all-wheel drive: $52,395

Powertrain Specs, MPG and Range
Lexus is holding onto many details of the 2026 ES until closer to the start of sales, but it has released preliminary drivetrain specs. The plug-in ES 350h uses the next evolution of the hybrid powertrain in the Camry. Its sixth-generation tech still uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric assist, but combined output increases from 215 horsepower to 243 hp. For an additional $1,400, AWD models power the rear wheels with a second electric motor. Lexus has not yet released official fuel-economy or electric-range estimates for the 2026 ES 350h.
The all-electric ES will be available with either a single motor driving the front wheels or dual motors providing all-wheel drive. The ES 350e’s single motor generates 220 hp, and Lexus is expecting an official range of 300 miles. With a second motor powering the rear wheels, the ES 500e generates a combined 338 hp; the brand estimates it will land around 250 miles. Details of the battery pack and charging are not yet known, but the 2026 ES will come with a North American Charging Standard charge port that allows drivers to use Tesla’s vast Supercharger public fast-charging network.
