Following its debut in concept form at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show, Kia has revealed images for the production version of the 2024 EV9 SUV, the brand’s first three-row electric vehicle. The company claims the EV9 will reshape the way design plays a role in its future electrified products.

The exterior styling of the EV9 retains a lot of the DNA from the Concept EV9, but while the production version’s styling is tamed down slightly, Kia still took advantage of the large canvas it had to work with. The front end looks like a sleeker version of the brand’s Telluride gas-only three-row SUV and features vertical headlights with two adjacent clusters of small cube lights and a chiseled grille panel leading down to the bumper. The side profile features flush door handles and polygonal design elements, including geometric wheel arches and triangular fender structures, while the distinctive, extended taillights out back resemble those of the Volvo XC90.

The EV9’s interior will offer seating for six or seven occupants, and it’ll feature novel 180-degree swiveling second-row captain’s chairs that can allow passengers to face people in the third row. Two 12.3-inch touchscreens and an integrated 5-inch display dominate the dashboard and help reduce the number of physical button controls. Third-row passengers get mobile device chargers and cupholders.

Ahead of its global premiere in late March, it’s worth noting some of the above features may not make it to the U.S. market. We also don’t have official performance numbers for what will end up stateside, but Kia did say the electric SUV will be built on the same EV-specific platform that’s used for the EV6 and related Hyundai Ioniq 5. Look for the EV9 to also have a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup. More information will be revealed at the time of the premiere before the model goes on sale later in the year.
