When NBC debuted the new “Knight Rider” movie this spring, fans clearly felt something lacking in the new KITT. After all, this isn’t the ‘80s — cars really do talk now. With that in mind, writers for the upcoming “Knight Rider” series, debuting this fall, decided to incorporate different modes for the famed vehicle.
In it’s Normal mode, KITT looks a lot like a 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR, but if you tick it off (or need extra towing capabilities for a boat or something), then it can transform itself into a 2009 Ford F-150 FX4 pickup. NBC treated fans to a sneak peek of KITT’s new twist at last week’s Comic-Con gathering in San Francisco. The new series will appear this fall on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST.
We serious automotive journalists can only speculate on how absurdly inefficient it is to carry around a full-size F-150 inside a Mustang. KITT must get very poor gas mileage.
Our friends at PickupTrucks.com got the inside scoop on the new KITT. You can read all about it and see more pictures at the link below.
