Mazda Dealerships Get Upscale Design

With an ever-increasing amount of browsing and buying occurring online, brick-and-mortar retail businesses are getting creative in enticing customers to walk through their actual, physical front doors. To that end, a growing trend for car dealerships has been to improve the customer experience at their businesses with upscale accommodations and amenities. Mazda is the latest to take this flashy, highbrow approach with its Retail Evolution design — which could be coming soon to a dealership near you.

The automaker says the design program features an open concept floor plan that uses natural materials and modern decor. The result is a sleek, stylish and inviting environment that resembles the genetic progeny of an Aspen ski lodge, the Apple Store … and Cameron’s dad’s Modernist garage where he parked his ill-fated Ferrari in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”

A refreshed Mazda Lounge provides device-charging stations and free Wi-Fi amid digital displays adding to the ambiance.

The first Mazda dealership to be built from the ground up in accordance with this new design program, Mazda of Everett in Seattle, opened Thursday. The automaker, which has nearly 700 dealerships in the U.S. and Mexico, said it plans to work with dealers on a tiered system to determine what level of the new styling is appropriate for their specific business.
