Mercedes-Benz EVs to Access Tesla Supercharger Network in February

Mercedes-Benz electric-vehicle owners will gain access to Tesla’s Supercharger network starting in February. The announcement follows Mercedes’ earlier commitment to adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard, expanding charging options for its customers across the U.S.

Future Mercedes-Benz EVs will be equipped exclusively with the NACS ports starting in 2025, replacing the Combined Charging System ports used in earlier models. Owners of Mercedes EVs with CCS ports will need an adapter to access Tesla’s Supercharger network. These adapters will be available for purchase through Mercedes dealerships and online for $185.

Expanding Access
Also starting in February, Mercedes EV owners will benefit from Plug & Charge technology, which simplifies the charging process by automatically authenticating the vehicle and initiating charging upon connection, eliminating the need for separate apps or cards. Owners will need to ensure their vehicle has received a required software update from a dealership to enable Plug & Charge functionality; once updated, the feature will be integrated with the Mercedes app, allowing owners to manage charging sessions through the app while taking advantage of the Supercharger network.
Tesla’s Supercharger network, which comprises over 20,000 DC fast chargers in the U.S. and Canada, has been gradually opened to non-Tesla EVs since 2024. Despite partnering with Tesla, Mercedes-Benz remains committed to establishing its own dedicated charging network. The automaker has already opened several dedicated charging locations in North America, with plans to establish more than 400 sites housing over 2,500 chargers by the end of 2027. These Mercedes-branded chargers are also integrated into the Mercedes Me Charge service, which also offers payment and access to additional networks like Electrify America and ChargePoint.
For Mercedes-Benz EV owners, the February rollout marks a step forward in ensuring reliable and accessible charging options as the industry continues its transition to electrification.
