NHTSA Seeks Answers on Graco's Partial Car Seat Recall

Federal safety authorities are formally questioning a child-safety-seat manufacturer after the company refused to recall 1.8 million car seats as requested. Last month, Graco Children’s Products Inc. agreed to recall nearly 3.8 million combination and booster seats due to buckles that may not unlock; that number was only about two-thirds of the 5.6 million seats that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration wanted recalled. According to the Detroit News, NHTSA on Thursday sent a 14-page request seeking “all documents related to Graco’s reasoning and rationale for excluding” certain seats.
